Data Product Catalog - Search and filter interface

Data Product Platform

Browse an org-wide catalog of data product and consume them with the tooling of your choice.

Overview

This project focused on transforming a fragmented and inefficient data ecosystem into a streamlined, scalable self-service experience. The existing landscape made data discovery and access complicated, with data scattered across the organisation. Creating data products required a highly technical, API-driven process, which limited contribution to a small group of users. For consumers, access was restricted and governed by manual due diligence from data owners, creating delays and security risks.

Design Question

How might we create a platform that improves discoverability, streamlines creation, increases collaboration, and enhances access control?

Key Features

Data Product Catalog with advanced filters

Data Product Catalog & Filter System

A retail-style catalog where users can browse, search and filter all available data products — making discovery intuitive.

Customisable Checkout Experience

  • Inspired by retail basket/checkout design
  • Users select what they want — e.g., tool to consume from, data version, output port type
  • Improves control and clarity of usage

Role-Based Access Control management interface

Single view for Multi Environment

  • Filter and compare assets by environment (PROD, TEST, DEV)
  • Single-screen view to identify required actions
  • Aggregated view to compare status, policies, assets, and versions

Role Based Access Control

  • Security was key: Leveraged existing Active Directory (AD) group structure
  • Producers can assign permissions through custom policies defining who can access each data product
  • System auto-detects group membership to allow/deny access securely
